ENDURING FUTURE
"Built to last’ isn’t just something we thought sounded great,
it’s the mantra that informs our decisions from start to finish."
Each piece in &Tradition’s collection is designed to endure, to be passed down through generations. Committed to ethically sourced, long-lasting design pieces, for &Tradition, it’s integral that both the design and materials used stand the test of time.
“The design process is scrutinised from start to finish. How can we improve the materials here? Where is this wood sourced from? Which chemicals have been used on this fabric? How will this product be packaged? We are constantly researching, experimenting, and testing new ways of sourcing, producing, and manufacturing the designs you see today.”
With a collection that ranges from Arne Jacobsen and midcentury Hvidt & Mølgaard reissues, to contemporary designers such as Jaime Hayon and Hee Welling, &Tradition devote much of their time and resources to procuring the right materials for each individual piece.
From natural materials such as wood sourced from FSC® certified forests, to recycled plastic extracted from used car parts and post-industrial waste which meets stringent EU Ecolabel environmental standards, and Responsible Down Standard (RDS) feathers and water-based lacquers – &Tradition are committed to creating sustainable and ethically sourced, long-lasting design pieces that will bring joy for many years to come.
The result of their efforts is seen in select pieces such as the EU Ecolabel certified Rely – a chair crafted from 100% recycled plastic waste – and Drop Leaf – an elegant dining table built from 100% sustainable oak.
